San Antonio, TX, USA -- Mummies of the World arrived at the Witte Museum under heavy security last Wednesday, traveling nearly 1,200 miles from Tampa, Florida for the exhibition's highly-anticipated debut in San Antonio. Officially opening on Saturday, this will be the exhibition's exclusive Texas engagement.
Marc Corwin, president of American Exhibitions, Inc. - producer of the exhibition - was joined by Dr. Heather Gill-Frerking, Director of Science & Education for the Mummies of the World exhibition, and Marise McDermott (pictured left), president and CEO of the Witte Museum, for the official arrival of the mummies.
"Often you have Egyptian mummies or you may have perhaps a Bog Mummy, but here is an exhibition that has all of those, so it's very comprehensive," said McDermott. "This is a truly unique opportunity to experience mummies from around the world, and the Witte is honored to be able to offer such a perception-changing and thought-provoking collection to the region."
Mummies of the World was developed by American Exhibitions, Inc., in association with the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums (REM). For more information: www.mummiesoftheworld.com.
